Avengers 2

Avengers 2 Confirmed

The no-brainer news of the day.

May 8, 2012

Here's the "no duh" news of the day: There will be an Avengers 2.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney CEO Bob Igerhas confirmed that the sequel will come after the already in the works Iron Man 3Thor 2 and Captain America 2. The exec was talking to analysts about Disney's quarterly earnings when he made the announcement.

Who Should Join The Avengers 2?

Of course, anyone who has been following Marvel Studios' plans knows that Avengers 2 has been more or less a given. So here's where we stand: Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 both hit in 2013. Cap 2 comes in 2014. And Avengers 2 will be coming… as soon as possible, one would expect, considering the record-breaking box office of Earth's Mightiest Heroes this past weekend. That said, Iger gave no specific timeline for Avengers 2 today.

Latest on Iron Man 3 set

Latest IRON MAN 3 Set Reports & Photos Include Robert Downey Jr. & More Scene Details

Including a photo with Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man 3 director Shane Black, and possibly Jon Favreau, on set, along with details for a potential race scene, and filming in Miami, check it out!

The latest photos and reports from the Cary, North Carolina set of Iron Man 3 not only allude to a potential car race scene, but also offer a look at star Robert Downey Jr, director Shane Black and possibly Jon Favreau. Along with details for filming that'll soon take place in Miami, Florida, the city that North Carolina is only doubling for, one of Tony Stark's rides has been spotted possibly for "the race." Check out the photos and details below!

An anonymous source of On Location Vacation reports, "I work in the building they are filming at on the SAS campus in Cary. Cameras started rolling early this morning in the lobby of the building and as I left work this afternoon they were filming a scene at the entrance of the building. Even a lot of extras were SAS employees. It didn’t seem like there was any action scenes being filmed. Just a lot of people in very nice business suits.

As we all probably know by now, Epic Games will be the “face” of A.I.M. On the other hand, the SAS campus is portraying Stark Industries. The cast (mostly extras) were seen sporting “Stark Industries” name badges on set and between scene. It's [basically] a Christmas party scene at Stark Industries. There was suppose to be a car/race scene filmed along the Cary parkway but I heard that It was cancelled/rescheduled because of rain."

According to Miami Today, the production manager of Miami Beach recently stated, "[The production crew ] will be here for four to six weeks. We hoped they'd stay longer, but once they surveyed the market, they saw there was not sufficient studio space in South Florida. They will primarily do location work here."

Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Iron Man 3 Suit Revealed

Iron Man 3 New Suit
"Iron Man 3" suit revealed.
Fans of the "Iron Man" movies are learning a lot more about what the series' third installment will look like this weekend. Saturday at Comic-Con, Marvel released new images of Tony Stark's latest suit of armor, just a day after footage of an"Iron Man 3" stunt in progress was captured by a North Carolina TV station.
The suit's new, extra-gold look was revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego. The extra dose of gold drowned out the red of previous models, and drew a mixed reaction from fans on Twitter. Check out an image of the suit below.

In other "Iron Man 3" news, a video posted by Superhero Hype from North Carolina NBC affiliate WECT appears to show a dozen-person stunt in its prep stages.
According to WECT, the video was taken over the Cape Fear River, where "Iron Man 3" is scheduled to film next week. Check it out below.
Starring Robert Downey Jr., James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall, Guy Pearce and Gwyneth Paltrow, "Iron Man 3" is due out in theaters on May 3, 2013.
Marvel will preview "Iron Man 3" in a panel from Comic-Con Saturday night at 6 p.m. PST, so check back to HuffPost Entertainment for more updates.

New Iron Man Suit

Comic-Con fans have come to expect big things from the Marvel Studios team behind the "Iron Man" franchise and this year's offerings did not disappoint.
At first, it appeared Marvel producer Kevin Feige and "Iron Man 3" director Shane Black would serve as hosts discussing the new film. But then Robert Downey Jr., Tony Stark himself, made an over-the-top entrance from the back of Hall H to the musical stylings of Luther Vandross.
"I have three questions for you," Downey told the crowd. "How much do I love you? How much do you love me? And do you want to see some footage?"
The new Iron Man suit (Photo: Walt Disney Pictures)The teaser footage then began with Tony Stark unveiling yet another Iron Man suit. This new version of the armor literally flies across the room to arrange itself on Stark's body. However, there are a few humorous hiccups as some of the fast-flying equipment nearly takes him out while attempting to suit up.
The new Iron Man armor reverses the color scheme of previous versions, using only a small amount of red coloring to outline the suit itself. The traditional gold colored plating has also been replaced with a lighter, almost creme hued shade. Most importantly, the armor's new functionality will allow Tony Stark to suit-up in seconds, as individual pieces of the armor attach themselves and assemble around Stark's body. Stark appears to direct the new armor pieces by will power alone, backing up rumors that nanotechnology will play a significant role in the film, as Stark takes one step closer to becoming one with his iconic Iron Man armor.
But the mood takes a decidedly darker turn as the teaser clicks into full gear. Several military helicopters appear outside Tony Stark's home and fire missiles into its walls, sending Stark and Gwyneth Paltrow's character Pepper Potts flying backwards.
As this scene unfolds, the voice of Ben Kingsley's Mandarin character narrates, "Some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher," he says. "Lesson number one? Heroes; there is no such thing. As you cry out for mercy, you will be silenced."
"This guy is the Mandarin," Black said of Kingsley's performance.
For months, the cast and crew of Iron Man 3 had played down speculation that Kingsley would take on the role of the Mandarin, instead suggesting he might play a corporate villain.
The clip also showcases new stars Guy Pearce and Rebecca Hall, though both only appear for a quick glimpse and neither speak in the footage.
And Black promised that the third outing would be more grounded than the somewhat disappointing "Iron Man 2." "'Iron Man 3' is all about a return to the Tony Stark world," Black said.
Both Downey and former director Jon Favreau were quick in their attempts to downplay any speculation that there was bad blood between Favreau and Black. Not only is Favreau returning to act in the third film, but also he is serving as executive producer.
"This man is giving me every piece of advice and help," Black said of Favreau's involvement.
"At first it was weird walking on the set if an Iron Man movie but Shane and Robert made me feel really welcome," Favreau said. "I feel like a proud grandpa who doesn't have to change the diapers because he gets to play with the baby."
"Iron Man 3" flies into theaters in May 3, 2013.

The Dark Knight Rises Tragedy

The Dark Knight Rises Horror: Gunman Kills 12, Injures 59 at Colorado Screening

Century 16 movie Theatre, James Holmes

At least 12 people are dead and 59 were injured after a man opened fire on a crowd at a The Dark Knight Rises screening in Colorado early Friday morning, local police confirm.
According to various reports, at approximately 12:30 a.m. a man in a gas mask stood in front of a crowd during a screening of the film at a mall multiplex in Aurora and went on a shooting rampage. He set off a smoke bomb before opening fire.
Ten were reportedly killed at the scene, and the rest died at local hospitals, including a 6-year-old. Among the dead was a member of the Air Force, according to a Pentagon spokesman. The youngest victim was a 3-month-old, who was treated at a hospital and released.
man has been arrested in a parking lot behind the multiplex, police spokesman Frank Fania told reporters.
The suspect, who police did not immediately identify but is believed to be in his early 20s, was reportedly wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a rifle, handgun and knife. Another gun was also recovered at the theater. [Authorities have now ID'd the suspect as 24-year-old James Holmes, a University of Colorado neuroscience graduate student originally from San Diego.]
"He did not resist. He did not put up a fight," Fania said.
Authorities also confirm that there was no evidence that a second gunman was involved.
Eyewitnesses told NBC News that the gunman, who they claim was dressed like a character from the film, reportedly stormed in and flung a smoke bomb into the theater before making his way through the crowd and randomly opening fire.
"It was the most devastating thing I've ever seen," says Jennifer Seeger, who adds that she first thought the gunman's appearance was "part of the show" and that, at one point, he aimed his weapon directly at her.
"There's dead bodies everywhere, there's people hurt everywhere," she recalled. "It was pure chaos."
A spokeswoman for a local hospital confirmed that all of the victims suffered gunshot wounds ranging from minor to critical.
The FBI has now joined in the investigation.
In a statement, Warner Bros., the studio behind the movie, said: "Warner Bros. is deeply saddened to learn about this shocking incident. We extend our sincere sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims at this tragic time."
